Hair Problems --> Thin Hair
Thin hair is a more common hair type than you probably think, with many well-known celebs falling into this category. The fact that many of these celebs have glamorous looking hair that doesn’t show it’s thin and flat nature is due to them having correct hairstyles and styling that suit their hair type. With thin hair it is really important not to neglect styling, otherwise you could be left with lifeless, flat, thin-looking hair.
With thin hair products are really your best friend, to help give your hair volume and create texture. Malin, Style Director at Escape, recommends a three-pronged approach in order to boost and give your hair a voluminous appearance:
Prep, Hold, Finish.
Distribute the L'incroyable Blowdry Lotion evenly through towel-dried hair with your hands. This product is pretty ground-breaking as it has heat-sensitive microwax technology that allows the hair to set and re-set styles with ease, meaning one application is all that is needed to protect you hair and give some hold after washing it. In addition it has anti-frizz control and protects hair up to temperatures of 450° !
Kérastase’s Densifique Densimorphose Hair Mousse is a perfect product especially for thin hair that adds body without weighing down the hair and making it feel greasy or heavy. Squeeze out an orange-sized amount of product and work into the roots, if you are wanting to also create some volume or body through the lengths then work the product through all of the hair. It is best to think, when applying product, that you use it on the areas you are wanting to create an effect. With use of this product you can see an immediate improvement in the hair’s texture, shine and suppleness.
In winter Malin always recommends blow-drying your hair as apposed to letting it dry naturally. This is because in cold temperatures the hair structure can be damaged when wet or damp, due to the water freezing around the hair shaft. Therefore blow-dry you hair working the roots in an upwards direction from the scalp to create the volume and lift needed from the base of the hair. Once you have finished styling your hair the way you want, spray-in some Volume in Powder focusing around the roots to get immediate body, volume and grip. This strong hold hairspray should keep your hair in place and is also great for second-day styling as it’s invisible formula means you don’t get any white or oil residue when brushing your hair.
As the name of this product suggest, Wonder Worker from Shu Uermura, has multiple uses and benefits. When sprayed on towel-dried hair this primer helps lock in moisture and tames small hairs, thus creating a smooth finish. The 7 benefits with this product are that it instantly hydrates, detangles, smoothes, conditions, boosts radiance, tames frizz, and adds silkiness to all hair types. Additionally you can use it on dry hair to bring out your natural texture.
This hair gel delivers long lasting support for any style from the roots to the ends and is great for building voluminous body throughout. Squeeze out a dollop of Shu Uemura’s Fiber Lift into your hands and work generously through the roots and out to the lengths if needed before blow-drying the hair.
This nifty little product comes in the form of a click-button dusting brush, and is the perfect handbag size if you feel you are needing a little midday volume boost on the go. Shu Uemura’s Volume Maker is genius, as usually with texturising powders it is easy to get too much product in one place and end up with an uneven distribution. Furthermore this product doubles up as a dry shampoo also!
